In addition to the Management Information Systems development projects for significant entities in Turkey undertaken since 1985, Bilişim Ltd has started research and development dominated software development efforts with the Integrated Hospital Management Information System defined in 1999.

Having been implemented with the Graphics User Interface (GUI) in Relational Database (RDBMS) environment, the Integrated Hospital Management Information System was also supported by the Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Institution (TÜBİTAK) - TİDEB as an R&D project that involves the design and implementation of a software system operating on personal computer networks and based on a client/server architecture and a database infrastructure.

After this first experience, the project titled "Enterprise Management Portal Project, Stage One: Information, Human Resources Management and Customer Interaction System" was completed and realized in 2001-2003 with a support from TÜBİTAK-TİDEB again.

In 2002, Bilişim Ltd moved its working office in Ankara to the Ankara Cyberpark technopark area, entering a new era in terms of both economic conditions and opportunities for the university-industry cooperation. From a review of the opportunities provided by the technocity law, developments in the application software products market in Turkey and the world and the results obtained by Bilişim Ltd on its previous R&D projects, it is concluded that the Company's capability to develop successful software projects, its accumulation of knowledge and experience must be accentuated further from 2004 on to transform Bilişim Ltd a successful R&D company. Today, efforts for the planning and implementation of this transformation are on the current agenda of Bilişim Ltd with the highest priority.

Considering that, in the future, only those enterprises which can capture the recent technological developments rapidly and use them in work processes in the enterprise, which can keep pace with changes rapidly, which work efficiently and which can take quick and correct decisions on time could survive, it has been decided to produce new marketable or competitive software products, provide the infrastructure required for such products, develop new methods and techniques, in other words, define R&D intensive projects in Bilişim Ltd in a larger number and with a larger scope and go to reorganizations to improve the R&D department.

Bilişim Ltd has carried out the following activities to attain the identity of an R&D company:

 

  • R&D structuring in the Company was reviewed and improved.

  • The number of qualified workforce in R&D department who have the ability, experience, knowledge and skill enough to enable opening new horizons to the enterprise is being increased.

  • A market research is being conducted for the products or studies to be generated on R&D projects.

  • The R&D department's budget is increased and new R&D projects are defined.

  • Management decisions are taken and implemented to ensure that R&D activities and R&D policy are also adopted by all the Company employees and participated in at the Company level.

  • It must be ensured that the output and gains obtained as a result of the R&D projects completed are disseminated in the Company through information and publicity activities.
